Water Resources
We promote an integrated management of water resources based on the principle that water is a fundamental human right and a strategic resource for the sustainable development of Argentina's provinces, fostering more equitable and efficient access to water.
In response to growing demand and the challenges posed by climate change, we work alongside the provinces on long-term planning to strengthen water security, modernize public water management, and build the technical capabilities needed to prevent crises, sustain production, and improve people's quality of life.
Master Plans
Several Argentine provinces are currently developing comprehensive water management plans aimed at anticipating future scenarios and designing strategies to ensure the availability and sustainable use of water resources.
These studies include:
- Assessment of the current state of water resources.
- Forward-looking water balances.
- Water demand projections.
- Available water supply projections.
- Evaluation of future scenarios and identification of adaptation measures.
Based on these analyses, practical proposals are developed to optimize water management, including infrastructure for human consumption, productive activities, and water storage during periods of excess availability, as well as the identification of financing sources for implementation.

A Federal Agenda for Water Security
Together with the provinces, we are advancing a federal agenda aimed at strengthening water security and promoting sustainable water management. In addition to the master plans, we are developing strategic initiatives such as the Master Plan for the Submeridional Lowlands Hydrological Region, technical missions and exchanges with international experts, credit lines for irrigation and water efficiency projects, the development of projects for water supply and sanitation and water-related productive activities, and training programs for technical and management teams.
Water will be one of the key determinants for Argentina's sustainable development in the coming decades. That is why we support long-term planning processes, promote the modernization of water management, and strengthen provincial capabilities to anticipate challenges, reduce vulnerabilities, and ensure an efficient and sustainable use of water for present and future generations.
