Progress on the urban planning chapter of the Roadmap Towards a Federal Future
The CFI and Argentine provinces added a strategic urban planning and housing pillar to the Roadmap Towards a Federal Future. This initiative seeks to strengthen local government planning to address challenges such as the housing deficit, pressure on public services, and territorial organization. The goal is to consolidate a shared vision that improves access to land and the opportunities offered by cities throughout the country.
The presentation took place during a workshop that brought together housing authorities, specialists, and international organizations. Clear goals were set during the meeting, such as creating an updated reference framework for the national urban system and developing a Federal Experience Radar to share best practices. The importance of designing innovative financial tools to facilitate urban infrastructure investment and improve municipal management was also highlighted.
The action plan includes a diagnosis of the growth of intermediate cities and the critical situation regarding rentals and mortgage credit. In the upcoming stages, field surveys will be conducted to identify local barriers, and meetings will be held with the real estate sector and banking institutions. All these advancements will be integrated into technical documents and practical guides that will serve as the foundation for provincial public housing policies.
