Joint strategies for wine logistics: first sectoral meeting

As part of the Federal Logistics Strategy, the provinces and the CFI held the first Wine Logistics Meeting, a forum designed to encourage dialogue among the key players in the sector's logistics ecosystem. Participants included the governments of Catamarca, La Rioja, Mendoza, Salta, San Juan, and Neuquén, as well as representatives from production (COVIAR, Wines of Argentina, Bodegas de Argentina, and Cámara Argentina de Vinos a Granel) and transport (Andesmar, Loginter, Empresas Tahan, Expreso Luján de Cuyo, Cruz del Sur, ARLOG, and CEDOL).

During the meeting, the main lines of work of the Federal Logistics Strategy were reviewed, and key provincial projects to improve wine logistics were presented. Participants also described the most significant challenges affecting production and cargo transport in the sector, and proposed joint actions and projects to improve the competitiveness of the logistics chain.

The agreements reached included the need to improve digitalization and connectivity at border crossings to reduce waiting times and operating costs; update quality and maintenance standards for railway tracks; decentralize logistics services to avoid overloading certain infrastructure; and improve road maintenance to reduce delays and operating costs.

Participants also stressed the importance of authorizing the use of B-double trucks, renewing transport fleets, adapting to new sustainability requirements, streamlining customs clearance, promoting Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification, increasing container availability, facilitating cargo consolidation, stabilizing transport rates, and implementing IT systems for cargo tracking and monitoring.

This first meeting marks the start of a series of collaborative activities aimed at strengthening wine logistics and promoting the integration and efficiency of logistics activities in the region.
