New Tools to Promote SME Internationalization and Exports

The CFI’s Provincial Investment and Export Promotion Program is adding financing and strategic partnerships to strengthen the integration of small and medium-sized enterprises into international markets. The initiative combines training for provincial technical teams with comprehensive assistance for businesses, providing support throughout the export development cycle.
The initiative is structured around two main areas of work. First, it trains officials working in the productive, industrial, and international relations areas of provincial governments so that they can serve as local promoters of foreign trade. Second, it identifies companies with international potential and an interest in internationalization to conduct assessments, evaluate target markets, analyze customs costs, and prepare tailored action plans.
In its fourth edition, the initiative aims to develop more than 100 promotion plans and train more than 110 technical professionals across the country. Alongside traditional productive activities, the program is expanding its work with service-sector firms—including technology, tourism, and professional services—and incorporating the experience of international agencies to optimize management and assistance models.
The program is complemented by specific credit lines to finance promotional activities, pre-export financing, and productive expansion.
